FIELD: magnetic navigation, course indication in transport vehicles equipped with demagnetizing systems. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of measuring electromagnetic deviation by comparing magnetic deviation when demagnetizing system is deenergized and after energizing such system; at metering electromagnetic deviation in fixed ship measuring dependences of vector increment of magnetic field induction upon electric currents passing through each winding of demagnetizing system; performing measurement at using three-component vector pickup of magnetic field of compass in its regular position; in position of compensating electromagnetic deviation performing vector summing of elemental fields of each connected winding according to measured dependences. Summed vectors are determined by increment of vector of total magnetic induction of demagnetizing system and it is taken into account in algorithm for calculating magnetic course. Apparatus for performing the method includes demagnetizing system, three-component vector pickup of magnetic field; calculator of electromagnetic deviation, calculator of magnetic source, pickups for measuring electric currents of demagnetizing windings, unit for matching with demagnetizing system and unit for controlling calibration. Above mentioned units and apparatus are mutually connected as it is necessary. EFFECT: simplified measurement procedure, enhanced accuracy of compensating electromagnetic deviation. 2 cl, 1 dwg
