PLANING VESSEL Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: shipbuilding; building of twin-hulled vessels with interceptors. SUBSTANCE: proposed planing vessel has two narrow hulls with deadrise bottoms which are connected by means of bridge. Fore portion of hull is provided with hydrofoil. Interceptors are located in stern of each hull after transom on bottom break. Vessel is provided with water-jet propeller whose water intake hole is located in bottom in bottom before interceptors. Hulls are provided with vertical bilge washers in aft portion, forward from transom; height of said washers ranges from 0.05 to 0.25 of width of each hull and their length is equal to 0.5-8 breadths of each hull. Fore hydrofoil together with strut or struts shall be fully turnable for raising forward at angle of 60-140 deg.; hydrofoil struts shall be secured to each hull and/or to bridge. Hulls may have fully hard chine lines or rounded chine lines in first third and hard chine lines in subsequent thirds at deadrise angles up to 35 deg amidships and up to 20 deg. at transom.
