FIELD: conversion and reuse of useless materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing and reuse of organic and organomineral materials, in particular wastes, by way of composting, which can be applied in agriculture and truck farming, in timber and woodworking industries, in municipal economy of towns and inhabited localities. Alkali reagent, more specifically alkaline extract of one of the coal-series caustobioliths in the form of humate solution of one of substances selected from sodium, potassium, and ammonium is added to a mass to be composted. When sodium or potassium humate is selected, humate solution is further supplemented by at least one low-acidic or neutral nitrogen- and/or phosphorus-containing substance and, when ammonium is used, at least one phosphorus-containing substance is added. EFFECT: increased nutritive value and land reclamation property due to accelerated processes of physicochemical and microbiological degradation of substance to be composted and predominate humification of organic substance degradation products. 18 cl, 9 ex
