FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; making steels from metal cord at high purity from standpoint of nonmetallic inclusions facilitating wire drawing process. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes melting metal in steel-making unit, tapping it into ladle at simultaneous deoxidation by delivery of silicocalcium and aluminum at flow rate selected from relationship (40- 60):1, alloying by manganese ferroalloys, vacuum treatment under covering slag at basicity of 1.8-2.2 and sum of manganese and ferrous oxides not exceeding 1.5% and treatment in metal finishing unit at addition of refining slag mixture including oxides of calcium, silicon and barium at the following ratios: (30-35): (50-60): (10-15). Teeming of steel is performed by means of continuous casting machine at constant rate. EFFECT: improved quality of metal; avoidance of breaks of wire during drawing due to reduction of nonmetallic inclusions and change of their morphology. 2 tbl
