FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; making chromium-containing steels. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes melting metal in steel-making unit, introducing manganese-containing oxide material and chromium- containing oxide as alloying and slag-forming additives during tapping of metal into ladle upon completion of active mixing; consumption of oxide materials per 0.1% in finished metal is selected from ratio of content of chromium to manganese in initial oxide materials equal to 1.1- 1.2; aluminum is fed to ladle in mixture with calcium carbide at ratio of 1:(2.9-3.2) after introduction of oxide materials. Used as chromium- containing oxide material is converter slag of production of medium- carbon ferro-chromium. EFFECT: increased degree of extraction of chromium and manganese at enhanced homogeneity of steel composition; increased degree of de-sulfurization; reduced contamination of steel with non-metallic inclusions. 2 cl, 1 ex
