METHOD FOR PRESERVING AMNIOTIC MEMBRANE Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves taking placenta sample, cleaning it from blood clots and separating amnion from chorion remnants. The cleaned pieces of amniotic membrane are treated in 0.2% chlorohexidine solution. Then, they are placed into solution containing 40 mg/ml of gentamicin and 2.5 mg/ml amphotericine B. Then, pieces of amniotic membrane are immersed into glycerol; for 20 min and fixed on metal frames. Next to it, the pieces of amniotic membrane are dried under sterile conditions over silicagel during 18-24 h, separated them from the frames and packed. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness and duration of preservation without using fixation on nitrocellulose paper.
