FIELD: bipolar-electrode electrochemical reactors. SUBSTANCE: novelty is that multiple-chamber device is formed by alternate piling of pre- assembled members of two types, that is, sub-assembly for holding electrode and other sub- assembly for holding membrane. Pile of alternating members is placed on bottom extreme member and pile assembly is started from placing top electrode member onto last membrane- holding member. Each member holding bipolar electrode plate and each member holding ion- exchange separating membrane have actually similar rectangular frame made of electrically nonconducting and chemically resistant material, as a rule of molded plastic which is provided (upon assembly) with groove on its surface to receive spacer means in the form of circular packings and it also has flange part in the form of depression on first flat surface end, as well as electrically nonconducting locking flange and through holes and depressions in mating points disposed along two opposite sides of rectangular frame; upon assembly they form lines for separate circulation of cascaded negative electrolyte and positive electrolyte through all respective flow chambers for negative and positive electrolytes. Bipolar reactor is not provided with inlet and outlet headers for two electrolytes, so the latter flow through respective chambers over zigzag-shaped path or, in essence, in hydraulic row or in the form of cascade. Felt base electrodes should be preferably provided with two ordered sets of parallel flow channels. Each ordered set forms comb-shaped net of channels for flow distribution, finger-shaped channels of this net alternating with those of other ordered set. EFFECT: facilitated assembly of reactor. 6 cl, 6 dwg
