FIELD: metallurgy, namely manufacture of wire and other products, mainly elongated articles with coatings. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer is in the form of tubular metallic housing having slit opening along its whole length. Plugs made of dielectric material and having hard-alloy tubes pressed in centers of plugs are arranged on end portions of housing. Electrodes in the form of discs are mounted in cavity of housing and they are electrically connected with housing. Electrodes have chamfered openings for passing wire, for flowing liquid and concentrating electrical charges and also they have radial slit openings. Apparatus for cleaning wire includes arranged coaxially: pulse type tubular elecrolyzer and washing out unit, reservoir for collecting working liquids divided by means of partition, systems for supplying solutions and working liquids. Electrolyzer and washing out unit are electrically connected with power source and they are insulated from reservoir for collecting working liquids. On end portions of washing out unit sealing chambers are arranged; cavities of said chambers are filled with electrically conducting dispersed material. EFFECT: enhanced degree of cleaning wire due to action upon cleaned material with electric current pulses. 10 cl, 8 dwg
