FIELD: processes for molding ceramic articles of different designation from aqueous slips. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of pouring slip into cavity between anode and cathode of molding unit; shaping article onto surface of anode at passing direct current through layer of slip; using as shaping surface of cathode electrically conducting gypsum molded inside metallic casing according to article pattern; providing electric conductance of gypsum layer due to wet gypsum mold with electrolyte, for example with aqueous 5% solution of sulfuric acid. Metallic member of cathode (casing) is not shaping member; it is placed onto outer surface of gypsum mold and made of metallic apertured carcass, metallic gauze or metallic foil. In order to improve contact between gypsum mold and metallic casing and to increase molding rate, into gypsum mold beginning from metallic casing, electrically conducting members such as nails are embedded by maximum depth but without damaging integrity of mold. Invention allows to make complex- profile and large-size products by electrophoresis process at any ceramic production. EFFECT: possibility for making complex-shape and large-size articles with high accuracy of their dimensions without using high-cost equipment. 3 cl, 3 dwg, 3 ex
