FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: method and device give user possibility to set time manually in multiformat TV receiver capable to receive set of TV signals. Method includes selection of TV signal from set of TV signals and detection of information on time in TV signal. After detection of such information it is extracted and used to set at least single clock ensuring time reading. Upon setting of clock information on time has priority over any time set manually and it is prohibited to set clock by hand. TV receiver continues to correct clock on basis of information on time periodically transmitted together with TV signal. User is allowed to set clock manually only if renewed information on time was not detected in the course of specified time interval which is achievable technical result of invention. EFFECT: potential of manual setting of clock if information on time was not detected in the course of specified time interval. 8 cl, 3 dwg
