FIELD: converter engineering. SUBSTANCE: method used for controlling ac-to-dc power converters used in bridge circuit of unidirectional-conductance switches with continuous-wave control by pulse-width modulation includes separation of resultant component from generalizing master vector of ac currents. Then two time-setting signals are generated, provided polarities of resultant component portions coincide, by separation of modules. Two unipolar piecewise linear carrier signals distinguished by polarity of their derivatives are generated and each of them is compared with one of two reference signals, and switching moments of bridge-circuit switches are determined. Proposed method provides for generation of converter ac currents of desired waveform and phase, such as practically sine-wave mains currents and adjustable power factor, as well as bidirectional energy transmission without complicating standard bridge circuit of converter.
