FIELD: wood pyrolysis; manufacture of equipment for industrial production of charcoal of high density and accompanying chemical compounds. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of production of charcoal from wood pulp includes drying, heating, pyrolysis, calcination and cooling; wood pulp is subjected to high-temperature oxygen-free drying and heating in flow of process gas to temperature of 190-250 C and moisture content of 20-6% and preliminary dynamic compacting at pressure of 300 to 1200 kgf/sq cm to density of 350-1000 kg/cu m at rise of temperature to 220-280 C; in the course of pyrolysis, thermal and thermo-gas-dynamic pulse actions are performed at separate evacuation of steam-and-gas, thus converting wood pulp into charcoal which is subjected to calcination if necessary and is compacted by controllable thermal and thermo-gas-dynamic actions, after which it is cooled under pressure with no admission of oxygen; then, oxygen-free cooling is performed.
