FIELD: metallurgy, possibly industrial production of high-quality ingots including refractory components, for example for making semiconductors. SUBSTANCE: method for making ingots of alloys on base of refractory metals including components whose melting temperature exceeds melting temperature of alloy at least by 1.2 times comprises steps of making ingot by vacuum arc remelting of consumable electrodes into crystallizer and vacuum electric arc lining-slag remelting of consumable electrodes into crucible for subsequent casting into mold; making consumable electrodes for vacuum arc lining-slag remelting by cross cutting of ingot produced by vacuum arc remelting at least by two measured length portions; orienting said measured length portions cut from ingot ends during process of vacuum arc lining-slag remelting in such a way that their non-cut ends are directed downwards. EFFECT: production of high quality ingots on base of refractory metals, improved chemical uniformity of ingots having no flaws caused by shrinkage. 2 dwg, 1 tbl, 1 ex
