FIELD: special electric metallurgy; applicable in production of high-grade ingots from alloys based on vanadium with titanium and chromium promising for use in thermonuclear power by vacuum arc skull melting. SUBSTANCE: method includes fusing of consumable vanadium electrode into crucible with skull from corresponding alloy and charging of mixture of titanium and chromium without special preparation onto bottom of said crucible. In so doing, mixture of titanium and chromium is melted without alloying of consumable electrode during time determined by relationship 1.46•10-3 m/q ≅t≅ 1.58 10-3 m/q with 0.05 ≅q≅ 0.2, where t is time of full melting of mixture from titanium and chromium without alloying of consumable electrode, s; q is specific power of arc during melting of mixture of titanium and chromium, kW/sq. cm of crucible bottom area; m is weight of mixture of titanium and chromium, g; then arc power is raised to its working value and consumable electrode is fused into crucible. The invention allows to reduce labor input by a factor of 1..2 due to exclusion of processes of manufacturing consumable electrode from mixture of materials or their compaction.
