FIELD: metallurgy, namely constructions of vacuum electric arc furnaces for melting refractory high reactive metals and alloys such as titanium and its alloys.
SUBSTANCE: furnace includes stationary module and four or more detachable mutually changeable modules alternatively butt joined with stationary one. Each detachable module is used for forming electrode-scull with ingot, it includes water-cooled crystallizer and crucible with detachable wall and in addition it is provided with vacuum-tight gate valve. Stationary module includes melting chamber with evacuating and cooling system, electrode holder with vacuum seal, electric current source, consumable electrode-scull with ingot and mechanism for moving it.
EFFECT: shortened time period of additional operations in melting zone due to using specially equipped beds outside melting zone for performing such operations.
