WAD-CONTAINER "BALAFF" FOR SHOT AND BULLET CARTRIDGES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: ammunition for smoothbore sporting guns. SUBSTANCE: the wad-container represents a hollow cylinder divided by a transverse partition into a container and a skirt- obturator with a tapered inner surface, in which an inserted bottom is positioned. The inner surface of the skirt-obturator is additionally provided with a section with a cylindrical surface adjoining the end face of the skirt- obturator and occupying up to a half of its height, for imparting the properties of a dimensional compensator to the wad-container the cylindrical surface is made with thread, annular notches or grooves for fixing the inserted bottom in the preset position, and the skirt-obturator is made for obtaining a tapered shape as a result of after-effect of powder gases ensuring an aerodynamic braking to the wad-container without any yawings and tumblings and a smooth removal from the shot or bullet cartridge without disassemblage. The outer surface of the wad-container may be made with a longitudinal knurling. EFFECT: enhanced shock-absorbing and obturating capacity of the wad at a shot and a stable position of the projectile in the flight trajectory. 3 dwg
