FIELD: production of metal from metal-containing raw material. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes forming molten bath with layer of metal and layer of slag above it in metallurgical furnace. Carrier gas, metal-containing raw material and solid carbon-containing material are blown into layer of metal through many tuyeres located above layer of metal throwing-out molten material from bath in form of splashes and drops above surface of still surface of bath, thus forming transient zone. Metal-containing material is molten in layer of metal. Oxygen-containing is blown into furnace through one or several tuyeres and reactive gases are subjected to after- burning; raising and lowering splashes and drops of molten metal facilitate heat transfer to molten bath and transient zone reduces losses of heat from furnace through side walls engageable with transient zone. Tube made from solid material is formed at outlet end of at least one tuyere for blowing solid materials, thus increasing effective length of tuyere or tuyeres. EFFECT: enhanced safety; increased productivity. 13 cl, 4 dwg
