FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, direct melting method for producing of metals from metal-containing basic material. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing fluidized bed in metallurgical vessel, said fluidized bed having metal layer and slag layer; introducing into metal layer metal-containing basic material and solid carbonaceous material through tuyeres to cause splashing of molten metal in the form of splashes, drops and jets, said materials being introduced into upper space above nominal killed surface of liquid bath for forming of transition zone; melting metal-containing material in metal layer; introducing oxygen-containing gas into metallurgical vessel through at least one tuyere with following combusting of gases released from liquid bath to facilitate transfer of heat of ascending and descending splashes, drops and jets of molten material in transition zone to liquid bath and reduce to minimal extent heat losses from vessel through side walls contacting with transition zone; controlling process by keeping large slag stock, with depth of slag stock being kept at the level of at least 1.5 m. Method allows capacity to be increased up to 6.1 t of liquid metal per hour and coal consumption to be reduced to 1,000 kg per ton of produced liquid metal. EFFECT: increased efficiency in controlling, under stable working conditions, of slag stock and layer of solidified slag layer on water cooling panels and, accordingly, reduced heat losses through side walls and increased liquid metal yield. 12 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
