FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of direct melting metal-containing material to produce molten metal. Molten metal is obtained in a reservoir for direct melting, which contains a bath of melt with a metal layer depth of which is not less than 900 mm. To provide stable and efficient operation of process, method involves selection of operating parameters of process so that injection of material containing solid material and carrier gas, over a layer of metal and metal layer through at least one tuyere for blowing solid material occurs with pulse, sufficient for penetration at a depth of not less than 100 mm below level of surface metal layer in still state with provision of ascending motion of molten material and gas from metal layer.

EFFECT: providing stable and efficient operation of process.
