FIELD: iron metallurgy; methods of direct melting of metal. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes preliminary treatment of coal by oxygen-containing gas for obtaining coke and fuel gas. Oxygen-containing gas is heated in oxygen unit with use of part of fuel gas obtained during preliminary treatment of coal. Raw material containing metal, coke and oxygen-containing gas are introduced into direct melting unit and direct melting is performed for obtaining molten metal with use of reductant. Then reactive gas is subjected to after-burning in atmosphere of oxygen-containing gas. Direct melting unit includes device for obtaining coke and fuel gas from coal and oxygen-containing gas and device for obtaining heated oxygen- containing gas with use of fuel gas as energy source. EFFECT: wide range of coal grades including low-grade coals. 8 cl, 2 dwg
