FIELD: metallurgy of iron; methods of direct melting of metal-containing raw material. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes stages of partial reduction of metal-containing raw material for freeing coal from volatile agents and obtaining partially reduced metal-containing raw material. Direct melting of partially reduced metal-containing raw material with use of coke as energy source and reductant is performed in direct melting unit; proposed method includes burning reactive gas obtained in the course of direct melting in heated air atmosphere, thus ensuring generation of heat due to after-burning exceeding 70% which is necessary for reactions of direct melting and maintenance of metal in molten state.
