FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: two-staged band-shoe brake comprises a brake pulley, a braking band and an elastic braking band ring, cooling leashes and a drive. The band ring is attached at both sides to pulley flanges having ventilation holes at the base. Along the perimetre of the brake pulley there is a "П"-shaped groove, in which main and additional friction pads are installed with clearances relative to side surfaces of flanges and the operating surface of the pulley. Friction pads are fixed to the inner and outer surface of the braking band ring made of heat resistant rubber reinforced with cords. Cooling units are made in the form of plates installed along main and additional friction pads that contact at the side of their non-working surfaces with arched heat conductive inserts available on cords of the elastic band ring. In the gap between ends of the main pads there are sections of bare cords.
EFFECT: intensification of cooling of outer and inner friction units of a two-staged band-shoe brake by means of heat transfer from their friction surfaces to metal friction elements.
