FIELD: water transport; shipbuilding; technology of reduction of surface friction of bodies moving in water. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in forming electrical field in boundary layer surrounding surface of body. Conducting sections separated by insulator are formed on surface of body and electrical voltage is applied to them. Magnitude of voltage is sufficient for decomposition of water (appearance of gas layer). Polarity of applied voltage and its magnitude are changed in accordance with speed of motion of body in water and conditions of minimizing power requirements for forming sliding gas inter-layer. Geometry of conducting surfaces shall be selected in accordance with shape and speed of moving body. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of forming gas layer in body-to- water interface; reduced power requirements. 2 cl, 3 dwg
