FIELD: manufacture of refractory materials, namely, carbon-containing refractory materials on base of periclase and alumo-magnesium spinel for lining steel-melting, steel-pouring and other metallurgical units. SUBSTANCE: proposed refractory material contains molten alumo- magnesium spinel at maximum size of grains of 6 mm and gradation factor of 1.75-2.50; used as periclase-containing component is molten or sintered is 1.5-class periclase and dispersed periclase taken at ratio of 1.2-4.5 at th following relationship of components, mass-%: molten alumo-magnesium spinel, 5-45; graphite, 5-25; organic binder, 2-8; the remainder being periclase-containing component.
