PROCEDURE ESTABLISHING CORROSION RATE OF CARBON STEEL IN STRUCTURES WITH AUTOMATIC BALANCING Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: procedure establishing corrosion rate of carbon steel uses autobalancing device with displacement of correction mass in domestic washers with vertical axis of rotation. First two autobalancing devices of same dimensions are manufactured. Ring flute for free movement of tested specimens in the form of steel balls 10 which occupy 1/6 of internal space of balancing ring is added into first device, 5/12 parts of space of ring is filled with tested alkaline solution. Second device has internal radial partitions not limiting free flow of fluid and tested alkaline solution fills 7/12 parts of space of ring. Then autobalancing devices are fixed in upper part of rotating drum of washer and level of noise is measured while washer is switched on, rotates under centrifugation mode without washing, during acceleration of drum. Difference of average values of five starts of washer without washing determines range of change of level of noise created by working medium inside autobalancing device, from level of noise at initial phase of corrosion process of steel 10 to level of noise in final phase of corrosion process of metal. Corrosion rate of metal balls is established by measurement of rate of change of level of noise created by working medium inside autobalancing device in process of drum acceleration under centrifugation mode.
