FIELD: optics. SUBSTANCE: facility testing containers 12 includes first light source 14 for generation of light energy of first kind and direction of this light energy from first light source on to part 20 of tested container determined in advance and second light source 22 for generation of light energy of second kind different form first kind and direction of this light energy on to same part of container determined in advance. Raster matrix sensitive pickup 26 is so placed that it absorbs two-dimensional image of part of container illuminated by first and second light sources. First and second light sources are gated in series and in turn, first and second two-dimensional images of part of tested container are loaded from detector. Commercial deviations effecting optical properties of container are found by comparison of first and second two- dimensional images from proper light sources scanned from light-sensitive pickup. Light-sensitive pickup incorporates units 44, 46, 48 for scanning two- dimensional images into consistent frames, first and second images are generated by scanning of consistent frames from pickup during which first and second light sources are gated in turn. EFFECT: minimization of effects of both movement of container and ambient light. 27 cl, 13 dwg
