FIELD: ceramics. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacture of materials and articles made of ceramic materials with medicinal designation. Ceramic material and article made of them are prepared on alumina base containing 93 wt. -% of aluminum oxide in alpha-phase, not less. Ceramic material comprises 98.0 wt.-% of aluminum oxide, not less; 0.15-0.4 wt.-% of magnesium oxide; 0.1 wt.- % of silicon oxide, not above, 0.1 wt.-% of sum of sodium and potassium oxides, not above, as measured for sodium oxide, and 0.05 wt. -% of iron oxide, not above. Material shows melting point 20-40 C, corundum average grain size 0.5-15.0 mcm. Material and articles made of them are prepared by grinding alumina in an aqueous medium, preparing ceramic suspension, molding, caking-carbonization in oxidative medium at 1150-120 C and roasting in oxidative medium at 1750-1790 C.
