FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials handling facilities. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to tower cranes furnished with means making possible to increase height of tower. Proposed tower crane includes support frame 1 on which tower 2 is mounted, tower head 6, counterweight cantilever 7 and boom 8 secured on head 6, mounting holder 9 with hydraulic cylinder 10 secured on tower and crossmember 11 hinge connected with hydraulic cylinder. Tower 2 is made up of sections 3 interconnected by butt joints, each including vertically arranged chords 5. Tower 2 has outer part 12 on end face 13 of which mounting holder 9 is fixed, and inner part 14 located in mounting holder 9 and outer part 12 of tower for displacement relative to holder and outer part. Hydraulic cylinder 10 with crossmember 11 is arranged between outer side 15 of inner part 14 of tower and inner side 16 of mounting holder 9. Outer part 12 of tower is provided with intermediate frame 17. Design peculiarities of intermediate frame 17 and mounting holder 9 make it possible to increase height of tower crane and provide more effective use of crane. Method of mounting and demounting of tower crane includes operations of installation of crane tower in vertical position by butt-jointing its sections 3, connection of counterweight cantilever 7 and boom with tower head 6, installation of mounting holder 9 on tower by means of which height of tower is then increased, and carrying out said operations in reverse order when demounting of crane is required. To increase height of tower, one or several sections 3 on inner part 14 of tower are installed in one or several sections 3 of outer part 12 of tower. Then sections 3 are butt- jointed to form outer part 12 and inner part 14 of tower to provide designed height. Inner part 14 of tower is installed for free displacement in outer part 12 of tower. Intermediate frame 17 is installed on end face 13 of outer part 12 of tower. Then mounting holder 9 is installed and secured on intermediate frame 17, height of holder 9 being kept constant. Height of tower is increased by extending inner part 14 of tower from mounting holder 9. In process of demounting of crane, prior to enjoining counterweight cantilever 7 and boom 8 from head 6, inner part 14 of tower is passed through fixed mounting holder 9 into outer part 12 of tower. Then counterweight cantilever 7 and boom 8 are demounted, mounting holder 9 is removed from tower and then demounting of tower is carried out.
