FIELD: sugar industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves weighting a specimen of milk of lime at temperature 22-28 C, separation of solid particles of lime from dispersion medium by centrifugation of a specimen of milk of lime in filtering centrifuge, weighting a specimen of dispersion medium, its titration with hydrochloric acid solution in the presence of phenolphthalein up to disappearance of pink color and calculation of content of active lime in milk of lime by the formula. Ethanol or acetone is added in their volume part 60-75% in dispersion medium in the presence of phenolphthalein up to appearance of pink color to a specimen of dispersion medium after its titration with hydrochloric acid. The calculation of the content of active lime is carried out by the formula. Invention provides the determination of concentration of calcium ions in dispersion medium of milk of lime.
