FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: silicon-containing tantalum-based alloy has sampling standard deviation of tensile strength in wire about 20.684 MPa for unannealed wire at final diameter and about 13.79 MPa for annealed wire at final diameter. Ta-Si alloy preparation comprises transferring, separately or simultaneously, silicon-containing solid and tantalum- containing solid into liquid state, mixing the liquids to form liquid mixture, and forming solid alloy therefrom.
