FIELD: plastic metal working, namely forging press production.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of alternating counter-phase feed and removal of working liquid into cavities of working and reverse strokes of hydraulic cylinders with use of piston type pulsating pumps. Beginning from time moment when piston of each pulsating pump passes rear dead point and when pressure in cavity of working stroke exceeds its limit value, pressure in cavity of reverse stroke is changed until its minimum value. Pressure in cavity of working stroke is sustained according to value of machine operation without load. Beginning from time moment when piston passes front dead point, in cavity of reverse stroke constant working pressure is kept. Radial forging machine includes housing and strikers. Each striker has drive unit in the form of hydraulic cylinders connected with working cavities of piston type pulsating pumps and hydraulic distributor. Drive unit is provided with electronic control circuit, pickup for detecting position of shaft of pulsating pumps and pickups for measuring pressure in cavities of working and reverse strokes of hydraulic cylinders. Hydraulic distributor has throttle controlled by means of electric circuit.

EFFECT: increased maximum forging effort, enhanced efficiency and versatility of forging machine.
