FLUORINATION PROCESS CONTROL METHOD Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2232132 C1

FIELD: radioactive compounds technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to controlling fluorine-mediated uranium oxide fluorination process in uranium hexafluoride production technology. Fluorination is conducted in horizontal screw reactor and comprises maintaining desired temperature in reactor and controlling uptake of fluorine and oxides, the latter being regulated using intensity of γ-emission in reactor and the former using intensity of γ-emission in reactor and concentration of fluorine in gas stream in outlet of reactor. In addition, distribution of solid reactor contents along reactor axis is regulated by changing screw rotation direction and angular velocity in dependence on temperature distribution along the reactor axis. Optimal filling of the reactor and ratio of reagents as well as uniform distribution of solid reactor contents and intensive stirring thereof raise process efficiency and provide maximum productivity of reactor.

EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency.
