FIELD: chemical industry; manufacture of glass balls, hollow and solid for filters, treatment of metal surfaces; manufacture of sphere plastics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes grinding of raw material, classification of this material by size groups, delivery of glass balls to furnace, thermal molding of glass balls, cooling of balls and separation of combustion products. Prior to classification, ground glass powder at size of particles up to 200 mcm is subjected to preliminary heat treatment performed in gas flame flux of furnace at temperature of 500-900 C.
EFFECT: increased percentage of yield of glass balls; reduced amount of insufficiently molded balls; increased productivity; improved quality of balls.
