FIELD: chemical industry; manufacture of glass balls and microspheres, both solid and hollow; production of thermo-protective chemically stable light materials and syntactic foam.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes grinding of raw material, delivery of it to furnace, preliminary heat treatment and classification by size groups, delivery of glass powder to furnace, thermal molding of glass balls or microspheres, cooling and separation from combustion products. Classification of glass powder particles by size groups is performed in two stages: first preliminary heat treatment in twisted state is carried out in flame flow where large particles are separated and are accumulated in intermediate bin mounted between cylindrical and taper parts of furnace. Then, part of glass powder remaining in flame flow is separated from combustion products in cyclones and is subjected to classification. Thermal molding of glass balls or microspheres is performed separately for each size group; preliminary heat treatment of glass powder in twisted flame flow is performed at burning of gas-and-air mixture at air excess coefficient lesser than 1 (α<1).
EFFECT: increased percentage of yield of glass balls or microspheres; increased productivity; improved quality.
