FIELD: chemical industry; manufacture of glass balls, both solid and hollow for various filters, light reflectors and treatment of metal surfaces; fillers for resins and paints; stabilizing agents for liquids and explosives. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes delivery of primary and secondary gas-and-air mixtures and glass powder to furnace, heating glass powder followed by its vitrification till forming of glass balls in twisted igneous flow, cooling and separation of glass balls from combustion products. Secondary gas-and-air mixture is fed to furnace over periphery of igneous flow at air excess coefficient lesser than unit. Then, twisted products of incomplete combustion of secondary gas-and- air mixture are injected by flow of primary gas-and-air mixture together with glass powder into combustion zones over length of igneous spiral. Maximum temperature of igneous flow shall exceed glass softening point by 299-350 C and ratio of maximum diameter of igneous flow to diameter of furnace is 1:2.
