FIELD: decontaminating metal wastes contaminated with radionuclides.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for recovering metal wastes including radioactive ones involves their smelting under layer of slag superheated in gas-lift flow intensively recirculating on top. Metal wastes are smelted in specially partitioned zone on perforated barrier in environment of slag refined due to air-gas mixture that incorporates oxide-reducing additives and is fed to blast unit. Furnace used for the purpose has working chamber, metal waste charging bin, gas outlet device, gas-lift chamber with blast units, and gas-separating chamber with gas outlet. Working chamber of furnace has following specially partitioned zones: slag heating zone, slag transport zone, and metal waste smelting zone provided with perforated barrier.
EFFECT: enhanced productivity of uninterrupted recovery process.
