ETHYL ALCOHOL PRODUCTION PROCESS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: ethyl alcohol production.

SUBSTANCE: process comprises production of alcohol on rectification plant comprising epuration, rectification, fusel oil-concentrating, distillation, and final refining columns. Intermediate impurities are run off on the epuration and rectification columns and top impurities from condensers of the epuration, rectification, and final refining columns. Intermediate and top impurities are accumulated separately in buffer collectors and then pumped into pressure vessels, from which impurities are passed through heat-exchangers to be heated by water coming from rectification column. Intermediate impurities are routed to fusel oil-concentrating column and top impurities to distillation column. Ethyl alcohol and ester cuts are withdrawn from condenser of the fusel oil-concentrating column and fed into packed column located by its bottom end in condensate container. Ester cuts tapped off in the packed column are introduced into the distillation column condenser. Ethyl alcohol withdrawn from packed column is fed into final refining column. Parameters of steam routed to rectification plant are stabilized by steam pressure controller mounted on general steam main and parameters of steam routed to each column by steam intake controllers mounted on manifolds before each column and connected to steam pressure controller through control system.

EFFECT: increased alcohol recovery and improved alcohol quality.
