FIELD: location and sorption of burning spilled oil.
SUBSTANCE: proposed boom is made in form of tubular member provided with core for imparting buoyancy to boom. Located around core is tubular envelope made from hydrophobic oleophilic non-woven material possessing high sorbing ability to oil and petroleum products. Tubular envelope is embraced by attrition-resistant screen made from polymer threads. To impart fire resistance to boom, core is made from foam basalt, non-woven material of tubular envelope is made from arymide fibers and screen is made from arymide fiber tricot.
EFFECT: enhanced barrier and oil sorbing ability of boom.
