FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: spiral belt provided with the spiral spacer impregnated with a polymeric binder is set into one pipe to be welded. The second pipe is set on the device, the butt is assembled to provide a given space between the faces of the pipes to be joined. The space receives locator for locking the metallic belt. The locator is removed, the belt expands and presses the spacer to the inner side of the weld, the ends of the inner covering of the pipes being overlapped.
EFFECT: expanded functional capabilities.
