RECONSTRUCTION METHOD FOR BEAM BRIDGE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: bridge building, particularly for reconstruction of small and medium-size single-span bridges of active rail road.

SUBSTANCE: method involves building foundation under bridge span, so that above foundation is not connected with existent bridge piers, forming tubes with templets; providing tube waterproofing; dismantling existent railroad track and bridge span during interval in railway traffic, filling tube with ground; compacting thereof; forming embankment; building new railroad track on embankment. Foundation is built transversely to existent bridge. Foundation is of strip type and is formed of reinforced concrete by casting thereof in place. Foundation has movement joints arranged along its length. Foundation length exceeds distance between extreme lower points of embankment foot of existent bridge in vertical plane parallel to transversal bridge axis. Longitudinal guiding tracks are arranged on upper foundation surface and traction means are mounted at end foundation areas. Tube is formed of several cast-in-place reinforced concrete sections, which are opened in medium bottom part thereof. Tube sections are made by turns in form arranged on one end part of strip foundation. Form is removal after 70% development of concrete strength and then section is moved along guiding tracks arranged on foundation with the use of traction means.

EFFECT: possibility of single-track and double-track bridges reconstruction, reduced labor inputs and material consumption.
