METHOD FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF GIRDER-TYPE BRIDGE Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: bridge-building industry. SUBSTANCE: according to method, undertaken is temporary branching-away of water stream and erection of structures under existing superstructure of bridge. Constructed under existing bridge superstructure are foundations which are not connected with abutments of existing bridge. Foundations are made for supporting walls of tube of rectangular cross-section. Then, walls and covering are erected. After that, foundation is build, which is independent from abutments of existing bridge. Upon that, built on foundation is at least one tube which is at least partly curvilinear in its cross-section. Surfaces of tube or tubes are subjected to waterproofing. Then, head-pieces of tube or tubes are built with sloped apron. Also constructed is reinforced concrete trough of tube or tubes and head-pieces. Now during interval in traffic, track structure is dismantled, existing bridge superstructure is removed and undertaken is covering tube or tubes with ground which is compacted with creation of embankment. Sloped apron is made of height to be equal to 0.1-0.3 of height of embankment above surface of tube or its highest point. After that, track structure is reinstalled on embankment, and water stream is brought back to its previous bed. Application of aforesaid method allows for enhancing reliability and prolonging service life of reconstructed bridge together with reducing labour and material inputs.
