FIELD: organic synthesis catalysts.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides catalyst used in production of vinyl acetate monomer from ethylene, acetic acid, and an oxygen-containing gas on fluidized-bed catalyst comprising porous microspheroidal carrier particles carrying catalytically active palladium crystallites finely dispersed inside carrier. To preserve its activity and selectivity, this material does not require incorporation of gold into it. In a catalyst preparation method described, where catalytically active fine palladium crystallites are thoroughly dispersed throughout the carrier, a selected metal-containing material exhibiting affinity to palladium is also dispersed therein to promote formation of ultrafine palladium crystallites, said metal-containing material possibly being dispersed by impregnating preliminarily obtained microspheroidal carrier particles or being deeply incorporated into carrier before impregnation with soluble palladium-containing material. Vinyl acetate production comprising contact of ethylene, acetic acid, and oxygen-containing with above-defined catalyst in fluidized-bed catalyst.
EFFECT: avoided use of gold without loss in catalytic activity and selectivity.
