FIELD: organic synthesis catalysts. SUBSTANCE: vinyl acetate is obtained via reaction of ethylene, oxygen, and acetic acid contacting with catalyst containing porous carrier, on the porous surfaces of which are deposited catalytically effective amounts of palladium and gold metals plus copper in the form of free copper or copper acetate and fourth metal selected from magnesium, calcium, barium, and zirconium in the form of oxides or mixture of oxide with free metal. Process is conducted at 150-220 C and pressure up to 20 atm. Use of catalyst characterized by high activity and/or low selectivity for carbon dioxide and/or high-boiling products raises productivity with regard to vinyl acetate. EFFECT: increased yield of vinyl acetate. 8 cl, 3 tbl, 6 ex
