FIELD: manufacture of building materials.

SUBSTANCE: process, which can be used in manufacture of heat-insulation articles, comprises preparation of suspension of silica-bearing amorphous substance in sodium hydroxide solution and subsequent hydrothermal treatment. Suspension is prepared from silica-bearing amorphous substance and additive dissolved in sodium hydroxide solution. Silica-bearing amorphous substance is, in particular, microsilica being waste from crystalline silicon production, whereas mentioned additive is boiling, i.e. intermediate product in sulfate-cellulose processing of waste. Ratio of solid to liquid phase is 1:(0.97-1.03) and consumption of sodium hydroxide (calculated as Na₂O) is 76.2±81.4 kg/m³.Hydrothermal treatment is carried out at 85-95^оС and atmosphere pressure for 10-15 min.

EFFECT: reduced process time and lowered process temperature.
