FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring temperature and magnesium chloride content in electrolyte; determining current yield from all electrolyzers of flow line. Temperature and content of magnesium chloride in electrolyte are determined by means of samplers equipped with thermal couples and positioned at inlet end of each electrolyzer of flow line and at outlet end of electrolyzer. Samplers are mechanically withdrawn from electrolyzer in predetermined mode of operation and are connected with electronic unit for analyzing electrolyte sample cooling rate. Current yield at each electrolyzer is determined from formula.
EFFECT: provision for continuous controlling of current yield and operative determination of effectiveness of each electrolyzer in flow line and of the entire flow line.
