METHOD FOR ADJUSTING DIGITAL REACTIVITY METERS TO CURRENT CONDITION OF REACTOR BY COMPOSITION OF FUEL FISSIONABLE ELEMENTS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2239894 C2

FIELD: checking nuclear safety characteristics and variables of nuclear power plant reactors.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method that can be used for adjusting radiation meters at power plants equipped with RBMK reactors to current conditions of the latter by composition of fissionable elements of fuel includes introduction of sets of αik parameter values governing delay neutron fractions of first group generated during k isotope fission into read-only memory unit of radiation meter in full number of delay neutrons generated by all fissionable isotopes of fuel; determination of mean fuel burnup using data of reactor centralized monitoring system; and selection of respective set of αik parameter values by varying position of switch on radiation meter rear panel. αik parameter values entered in radiation meter correspond to composition of fissionable elements -U235 + U235. Radiation meter adjustment scale is calibrated in terms of mean fuel burnup in reactor core. Proposed checkup method provides for reducing systematic reactivity measurement error by an order of magnitude compared with prior art.

EFFECT: enhanced checkup precision, facilitated adjustment procedure.
