FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed packing set has housing formed by tubes with flanges and supporting posts carrying upper supports with retainers, lower supports with holes to receive retainers, and load-handling lugs. In addition it has covers with fastening parts secured on tube flanges, cases, and wood inserts installed inside tubes to form working compartments for fuel assemblies. Dampers are secured on tube flanges and supported by covers; they are provided with depressions or holes to receive cover fastenings. Joined to lower supports by means of shock absorbers are supporting sheets with holes to receive retainers. Wood inserts are provided with depressions accommodating steel neutron flux absorbing plates disposed through core length of fuel assembly and abutting against cases. Total thickness of case and plate is found from formula: (1.05 - 0.01S) < 1, where S is total thickness of case wall and plate, mm.
EFFECT: enhanced safety in operation, enlarged holding capacity.
