FIELD: tungsten metallurgy, namely manufacture of metallic tungsten from tungsten-containing compounds such as scheelite concentrate.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preparing reaction charge in the form of mixture of scheelite concentrate with aluminum powder and alumothermic reduction of tungsten; adding reaction charge to preliminarily melt mixture of chlorides and fluorides of alkali metals at temperature 800-870 C or to melt mixture of carbonates and chlorides of alkali metals at temperature 850-900 C or to melt mixture of carbonates and fluorides of alkali metals at temperature 900 -950 C.
EFFECT: lowered temperature of reduction process, elimination of operations for removing harmful impurities and breaking.
