FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises magnesium reduction of tungsten oxide and carbon oxide (CO2) in medium of the melt of lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) at 800-900°C with tungsten oxide-to-lithium carbonate ratio of 1:5-7, and separation of carbide solid phase from the melt.
EFFECT: reduced smelting temperature in single-step process.
