FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed symmetrical piston compressor contains block of cylinders in which compression of gas takes place between two pistons moving towards each other. Mechanism of conversion f rotary motion of shaft into reciprocating of pistons and rods articulated with pistons is implemented in form of two drums rigidly fitted on shaft from each side of cylinder block, sine-shaped closed channels mirror opposite on each drum in which antifriction bearings are located being fitted on rods, and rods proper are located in sliding supports fixing travel of rods only along axes of corresponding cylinders. Antifriction bearings are mounted on rods through axles. Axle of bearing, not exposed to working load, is pressed by spring to take up clearances appearing in operation.
EFFECT: improved reliability of compressor, provision of dynamic balancing of moving parts, reduced friction losses.
